Introducing Close Woven Cane Patterns

We say "introducing" because very few of those visiting this site will have seen a piece of furniture woven with a close weave pattern. Close weaving is not an alternative to the standart hand woven cane pattern. Items of furniture must be designed to employ this form of weaving. Close weaving typically also uses binder cane, a larger strand size, although finer sizes of cane can be used to create more intricate patterns. Larger strands can be woven more quickly, though even with larger strands close weaving is a slow process.

To illustrate close woven patterns, we offer two samples here. Obviously one uses larger strands and the other smaller.
